As you may know, LEFSA has been looking for a new office space so we can better serve our homeless and formerly homeless brothers and sisters. We are excited to announce that this dream has finally come true!
Renovations are underway for LEFSA’s new office space, and we will be moving on June 16.
The move comes at the perfect time as we continue to celebrate our milestone anniversary. It has been 30 years since Sr. Dorothy Gallant and Sr. Teresa Skehan founded LEFSA, and each year has brought new growth. We now serve approximately 3,000 New Yorkers in shelters and on the streets each year. Our new office space will accommodate the needs of our team and those served as LEFSA continues to grow.
The new space was secured thanks to the generosity of one supporter. In addition to being part of our 30th anniversary, this timely gift arrived when office space was available in a Sisters of Charity Housing Development Corporation (link to www.sistersofcharityhousing.org) building. This organization promotes social justice by providing affordable supportive housing for some of the city’s most vulnerable residents.
Now the LEFSA team will operate out of Seton House, a multi-family residence that houses up to 16 formerly homeless families at a time. We are truly blessed to share space with a fellow sponsored work of the Sisters of Charity and an organization whose goals and values are so aligned with ours!
We are deeply grateful for the generosity of the donor who provided for this move. And as we start another chapter and embark on the next 30 years of service, we thank you and all of our friends and supporters who make LEFSA’s ministry possible each day. Thank you for your prayers, support, and commitment to serving those in need!
