LEFSA Presents Our First Virtual Art Show

On March 19, 2021, the LEFSA community began its first Virtual Art Show, which is available art this link.

Organized under the lead of our Creativity Coordinator, Mario Pimentel, the show is intended to provide a creative outlet for the artists in our community. During the pandemic, they have not been able to attend the usual in-person creativity group gatherings to make art together.

The elephant painting seen here is the work of our community member Iris Baily. “I really love coming to creativity group,” she says. “It’s a time to relax and enjoy good company. I enjoy the music, and the outcome of my projects. This brings out the artist in me.

“The colors I chose for this painting were the reflection of my day with LEFSA. They are bright because of the encouragement, laughter and blessing Mario gives to you. I chose the elephant because my mother says they are lucky and very protective of their young. When I was growing up, my mother had a lot of elephants in our house for luck.

“Now that Covid-19 has stopped us from meeting, it can be depressing. I never knew how art could change your mood until the groups stopped. I can say that I was a lot happier when I came to the office for our creativity meetings. I wish we had a Zoom group. I look forward to starting our creativity group back up soon.”
