On August 10, 2019, LEFSA hosted our annual Central Park Picnic. It was a perfect day, and the temperature was just right for an outdoor event.
The team and LEFSA volunteers began the set-up at 8 a.m. in the Pilgrim’s Hill section of Central Park. The first picnic attendees started arriving around 9 a.m.
A table was set up and prepared for serving the food, and farther down the hill another table was ready with toys and gifts for the kids, such as hula hoops, inflatable balls, jump ropes, bubbles, and sunglasses. By 11 a.m. the face painter arrived to add to the fun of the day for the kids, and even some adults!
The picnic was largely supported by some of LEFSA’s faithful donors. The McDavid family prepared the majority of the food and traveled all the way from Philadelphia for the fourth year in a row to deliver and serve the meal. Other donors helped with the purchase of drinks, toys for the kids, the cost of the face painter, and other supplies. Around 250 people were in attendance. At least 20 people volunteered to help with the set-up, breakdown, and serving of the food.
